Make your own Dish -Washing 'Detergent', easy

Natural home made dishwashing 'detergent'.
Combine half baking soda with half borax. Use 1T per load. Amount will vary depending on type of dishwashing and hardness of water. Newer dishwashers tend to use less water and therefore need less 'detergent'. This is what I use in my Bosch dishwasher and it works as good as any other I've tried.

Anti-Inflammatories: It's all in what you eat

Berries are a great anti-inflammatory food choice, especially blueberries and strawberries which are packed with anti-inflammatory phytochemicals and anti-oxidants. The pigments in brightly colored fruits, vegetables and berries contain many phytochemicals that have anti-inflammatory properties. One phytochemical is quercetin, which is found in apple and red onion skins and has strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Live Longer

Large amounts resveratrol, found in grape skins, given to mice enabled them to live longer, lose weight and run faster. The concentrated dose given to these mice would be the equivalent to a person drinking 750 bottles of red wine a day. However, University of Wisconsin found that drinking the equivalent of 4 glasses of red wine a day could be enough to be effective in humans.

Epsom salt detox!

How much man- made toxins are there in the human body? Plenty! One way to de-toxify is to soak in a bath of Epsom salt. Sound too easy? Read below or more at Epsom Salt Council

Magnesium - the key component of Epsom Salt -- performs more functions in more systems of the human body than virtually any other mineral, including regulating the activity of more than 325 enzymes.
Studies show that magnesium is:

An electrolyte, helping to ensure proper muscle, nerve and enzyme function.
Critical to the proper use of calcium in cells.
An aid in helping to prevent heart disease and strokes by lowering blood pressure, protecting the elasticity of arteries, preventing blood clots and reducing the risk of sudden heart attack deaths.

Medical research also indicates that magnesium may:
Increase the effectiveness of insulin, helping to lower the risk or severity of diabetes.
Reduce inflammation and relieves pain, making it a beneficial in the treatment of sore muscles, bronchial asthma, migraine headaches and fibromyalgia.
Although magnesium can be absorbed through the digestive tract, many foods, drugs and medical conditions can interfere with the effectiveness of this deliver method.
Therefore, soaking in an Epsom Salt bath is one of the most effective means of making the magnesium your body needs readily available.

Epsom Salt also delivers sulfates, which medical research indicates are needed for the formation of brain tissue, joint proteins and the mucin proteins that line the walls of the digestive tract. Studies show that sulfates also stimulate the pancreas to generate digestive enzymes and help to detoxify the body's residue of medicines and environmental contaminants. Studies indicate that sulfates are difficult to absorb from food, but are readily absorbed through the skin.

The Skinny on Whole Wheat Flour

Whole wheat flour is ground from whole hard red spring wheat berries, this has the heartiest, boldest flavor of any whole grain flour.
White whole wheat flour is ground from whole hard white wheat berries, this variety has the same nutritional value as regular whole wheat flour. White wheat is easy to substitute in baking recipes and has a milder taste and lighter color, more refined flavor then red spring wheat.
refined white flour contains only the starchy endosperm of the wheat berry. Whole wheat flour is made from the endosperm, the fiber and mineral rich bran and the vitamin and unsaturated oil rich germ. Whole wheat flour contains fewer calories and carbs and much more protein, fiber, calcium, iron, potassium and phosphorus then refined flour.
